Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Downtown Alive on July 2 Wilmington, NCPublished: 06/26/2020
The Downtown Alive special event will have an official ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the innovative event to the center city. The event will feature Mayor Bill Saffo and other civic leaders, including the representatives from the Downtown Business Alliance, Cool Wilmington and Wilmington Downtown Incorporated.
Downtown Alive is a temporary measure to allow businesses to expand outdoors into the sidewalks, parking spaces and street in order to provide extra room to meet social distancing requirements. Businesses can have display racks and serve food in this expanded area.
The event is closing four blocks within the Downtown core on Thursday and Friday nights from 6:30 to 10pm. Saturday hours are 10am to 10pm. It will operate on Sundays from 10am to 5:30pm. The activity is scheduled to run through Labor Day weekend. Shops and restaurants throughout all of Downtown remain open and operating and parking is readily available in surrounding lots and decks.
Note that restrictions on outdoor gatherings will apply for the ribbon cutting. Attendance is limited to 25 people and the use of face masks is required. While all media with credentials will have access, members of the public will be allowed to attend on a first come, first served basis. To check on availability, please call WDI at 910.763.7349 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
